Three Lost Poems

by Y@M children

The following poems were written by members of the Y@M group (Youth At Mornington) after reading the three “Lost” parables: The Lost Sheep (Luke 15:4-7), The Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-9), The Lost Son (Luke 15:11-32).

They were each challenged to write a poem about one of those parables, with the first word being “lost” and the last word being “found”. Additionally, the first line of the poem should have one word, the next line two, then three, and so on, and then reduce the number of words on each line, back down to one.

lost
bleating sheep
ninety-nine sheep stay
looking for absent-minded sheep
hears bleating sheep
sees sheep
found

by Vince

Lost
Lost Coin
Sweeps the house
She lights a lamp
And she looks very carefully
When she finds it
Calls her friends
Let’s celebrate
Found

She searched everywhere
She swept the house
It was found
The coin

He wasted it
Came home
Found!
