Open Education Evening -- The Road to Jericho.

Wednesday July 21st, 2010

THE ROAD TO JERICHO.

Jericho, near the river Jordan, is one of the most famous ancient cities in the world, having been continuously occupied for at least 11,000 years. Not surprisingly it has become the subject of stories and songs, ranging from Jesus parable of the Good Samaritan to Negro spirituals and pentecostal choruses.

In the July session of the Open Education programme at Mornington Methodist Church, Galloway Street, Emeritus Professor Colin Gibson will explore the history and legends, the art and the music which centre on Jericho.

Join us on Wednesday 21 July at 7.30pm. There is a charge of $5 for admission and supper.

This illustrated talk will be preceded by a meal at 6pm, catered by Judy Russell at a charge of $15. Ring Professor Gibson to book your place for the meal.
