A prayer for compassion and justice.
By Colin Gibson in Prayers
This prayer accompanied the Sermon on Compassion, January 10, 2010.
OUR PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE.Holy and compassionate God, may your bright Spirit
Lead us in the dance of joyful love, restore us to community,
Challenge us to campaign for peace with justice,
Enable us to live graciously, compassionately and lovingly.
Lord, help us make the bitter, savage world out there
a place where people dare to reach out once more to each other.
Christ help us to open the clenched fist and the closed mind.
To justice and compassion we commit ourselves.
To the care and nurture of the earth we commit ourselves.
To work out your love and your purpose we commit ourselves.
Amen.
