Lawrence is a small picturesque town in Central Otago,  known for its history.   Gold was first discovered here at Gabriel's Gully,  in 1861.

A small group of Methodists in Lawrence continues the tradition of 136 years.   They meet regularly and engage in worship,  work,  and witness,  caring for the needy in the community.    Services are held in the Methodist church on the first and third Sundays of the month at 11 a.m.

The ministers are the Rev'd Robyn Westaway and Deacon Francis Westaway.   Their telephone number is 485-9811.   The organist is Mrs Joan Hogg,  and the Children's Leader is Mrs Lorraine Dittrich.
